Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, stating that the highly anticipated sequel is slated for fall 2025, despite rumors suggesting a possible delay into 2026. This updated release window was highlighted in Take-Two’s latest earnings report, reflecting their current expectations.
“We are highly confident that we will deliver [Grand Theft Auto VI] in fall 2025,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in an interview when asked about potential delays.
Rockstar Games officially announced Grand Theft Auto 6 last December, with its first trailer becoming the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube within 24 hours. The game is set in modern-day Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida, where players will control characters named Lucia and an unnamed male, speculated by fans to be named Jason.
Since the initial reveal, speculation about the release date has been rampant, fueled by details such as website updates and internal conflicts over Rockstar’s return-to-office policy. These issues have raised concerns about a potential delay to 2026. However, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar remain committed to the fall 2025 release date.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is confirmed to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version will not be available at release, but hopefully, PC players won’t have to wait too long.
